Government benefits, such as food stamps (and soon social security) are distributed on refillable EBT cards. These cards are redeemable at participating stores. It's easy for a merchant to participate in the EBT program, and there are two ways to do it. One option is to get a dedicated EBT terminal at no cost from the government. The other is to run an EBT application on a NuMoney terminal. The advantages to the latter option are many.

• Real estate at the check out counter is valuable. One terminal allows more product space and more net income.
• Using and training for two terminals doubles problems, headaches, training, and increases checkout times; it's not worth it.
• Those that see the real cost of "Free" are willing to pay for a better solution.
